HOW TO PURCHASE A FOAL
It's easy!
Send an email telling me which foal(s) you are interested in ( cwark@rfnow.com ). Ask us any questions you may have. We love hearing from people, and helping you find just the right foal. We have a wide variety of sizes and colours to chose from. We welcome all sales, throughout the year. It is encouraged that all interested buyers come visit the foals along with the stallion and mare in the pasture. Traditionally, we tend to keep a selection of the offspring for our breeding program. Some of the light foals are kept and trained for personal riding and driving horses. On the Colts of 2007 page, a majority of the foals we have for sale are listed. We encourage all our customers to reserve the foals they desire as soon as possible. This way, you are guaranteed to get what you want. You can reserve a foal by giving us a call or email, stating your interest and we will work out some sort of downpayment with you.
WEANING AND MICROCHIPPING
Foals are weaned as of September 1st. We like to keep them for a couple of weeks to get them on dry feed. They are fed hay and a specially formulated grain ration. After that, your foal will be available for pick-up or delivery. Weaned foals can be halterbroke and able to lead if preferred by the customer. Inquire about the prices.
We are able to microchip all of our foals. Read about this on the NAERIC Website. The NAERIC Advantage is a value added program for horses bred on NAERIC member ranches and registered with NAERIC. Over 33,000 horses in North America are registered with NAERIC and are eligible to earn NAERIC Advantage rewards. The NAERIC Advantage will begin payouts in February 2007 for money won at selected events in 2006. Designated breed registry incentive funds such as AQHA Incentive Fund, APHA Breeders Trust Fund, ApHC Breeders Trust Fund, and ApHCC Incentive Fund are matched dollar for dollar for the owner of the horse.
Events have been selected to include a broad range of disciplines and levels of competition in the United States and Canada. Some of the disciplines included in receiving NAERIC Advantage money are: hunt classes, western pleasure classes, barrel racing, cutting, ranch horse, roping, reining, pole bending, trail, working cow horse, dressage, eventing, jumping, racing, team penning (if affiliated with a breed registry such as AQHA or APHA), halter classes, and line classes. The NAERIC Advantage™ expands payouts to include exhibitors earning only ribbons or points through AQHA, APHA, ApHC, and APHCC by establishing a designated dollar amount to be paid for placing first - third.
MANITOBA YOUNG HORSE 4-H PROGRAM
The Young Horse Development Project was launched in 1998 from a partnership forged between Manitoba 4-H and the Manitoba Equine Ranching Association (MERA). This program has since expanded to Alberta as well as Saskatchewan, where it includes participation of other youth groups.
Participating equine ranchers, like ourselves, offer youth group members a selection of weanlings to inspect, judge, select, purchase and train. Participating youths obtain hands-on experience, assume the responsibilities associated with horse ownership and develop skills required for setting and achieving goals. It is also an opportunity to showcase quality horses bred and raised on equine ranches.
We are proud supporters of this program and enjoy working with the young people that participate in this program. Please contact us if you are interested in this program and would like more information. People are welcome to tour our horses through the summer. Below is a link to some other details on the program, provided by NAERIC:

EMAIL SUBSCRIPTION
Ask us if you wish to be added to our email contact list. Even if you are not currently interested in purchasing anything, we still would like to keep in contact. We will send you occasional updates, happenings, new pictures, website changes, and other information.
DISCOUNTS AND PRICING
We offer very competitive and affordable prices on our foals. There is a basic price range, depending on the breed.
Our paint crosses tend to be a bit higher as they are in high demand and are really splashy. We do not price the foals on the website just because we prefer to deal directly with the buyer. We are very willing to negotiate. Discounts or special deals can be arranged if buying in quanities.
SALES CONTRACT AND PAYMENT
Please click here to see a sample of one of our contracts. A contract helps us define the terms of the sale and the buyer/seller responsibilities. We prefer to set up a contract with each horse we sell. As payment, we accept bank drafts, cheques, and money orders. We have an American account specifically for tranfers also. We've tried to make it as easy as possible. When booking a foal in advance, we generally require a down payment. Prices are in Canadian funds.
Please add 7% GST for all Canadian residents.
DELIVERY AND PICK UP
Arrangements can be made to deliver your foal(s) to your home. We are planning on delivering to a drop off point in the US, again this year. Once we know where buyers are located we will select a route with one or more drop off points.
We like to be able to deliver the horses to your door. If this isn't possible, we know of many good horse transportation companies that can set you up with delivering your new foals. Ask us. Most times one of us will accompany the load.
CROSSING THE US BORDER AND SUBSIDIZING
For those in the US, a coggins test and a federally endorsed vet certificate are required for the horses to cross the border. Some of these fees can be taken care of by NAERIC, depending on the circumstances. We can help you with this also. Most of this paperwork needs to be started a month before they leave. This all sounds hard, but we have done it many times now and it's quite easy - it just takes time. Depending on the arrangement, we can plan to cross the border and do the paperwork ourselves. If you are planning to take your horses across the border, we have all the contact numbers you may need. Just give us a call and we can direct you to the right people. Our horses are eligible for the NAERIC Subsidy program, which helps with the cost of the paperwork and the transportation - ask us about it also. Your load may be subsidized, which means you get your horses delivered for nothing or very little.
