Ranch History

We have been in the equine business since 1992 and find it a very rewarding career as it allows us to do what we love the best - working with horses. Since the creation of our farm in 1947, our family has always had a keen interest in horses but we have gone from owning a few riding horses to a herd of 60, and as of a few years ago, increased again to around 105 mares. Our equine ranch is located an hours drive from Brandon and about an hour and a half drive from the U.S. border. It consists of 500 acres of tame and native grassland pasture, 1000 acres of cereals/grains, and 500 acres of hayland. Our indoor facilities include an 78 stall barn, 4 adjacent box stalls, numerous sheds, and many corrals. We have had the privilege of hosting a number of international visitors for tours of our facilities throughout the years. We also own a herd of 150 commercial cattle which compliment the horses nicely.

Rob and Marilyn enjoy participating in various community activities throughout the year. They are members of the Manitoba E.R.A.  Marilyn has volunteered at numerous MERA and NAERIC events over the years.  They have three sons. Jeff and Steven work off the ranch as managers at grain elevators. Chris, the youngest, finished his Animal Science Diploma at the University of Saskatchewan in 2003 and has come home to farm. He has always been a real horse enthusiast, riding in the 4-H program and later as a steer wrestler and calf roper in the Maniotba High School Rodeo Association. Chris is now a member of the semi-professional Canadian Cowboys Assoiation and the Manitoba Rodeo Cowboys Asssociation. He enjoys team roping, steer wrestling and attending horse clinics as well as competitions. Chirs also serves on the MRCA Board of Directors on a volunteer basis. His wife, Melissa, manages the website and helps with the marketing and sales of the colts. The whole family likes to take in a few trail rides throughout the summer and enjoy using horses for ranch work as much as possible.
